Plans offered by Reliant Energy
If you’re wondering if Reliant Energy is good, the answer largely comes down to the type of plan you want. The company offers a variety of plans tailored to different customer types. Here’s a quick overview of the company’s best fixed-rate plans available on our marketplace. Enter your ZIP code to browse options and discover which Reliant plans are available in your area.
Reliant Power Savings 12 or 24: A classic fixed-rate plan
Reliant’s Power Savings plan offers fixed-rate terms of either 12 or 24 months. As long as your monthly usage is at least 1,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) in a given month, you’ll receive a $75 monthly bill credit. You’ll have to pay an early termination fee (ETF) of $150 or $295 (depending on your term length) if you cancel before the contract ends.
Reliant Power Savings 2,000 kWh 12 or 24: Best for high-usage customers
Reliant offers excellent options for customers who use a lot of energy each month. The Power Savings 2,000 kWh 12 and 24 plans are fixed for one or two years and offer a $150 bill credit when you use more than 2,000 kWh per month. As with other Reliant Energy electric plans, you’ll pay an ETF of $150 or $295 if you cancel early.
Reliant Basic Power 12 or 24: Stable fixed rates for medium-sized homes
Reliant’s Basic Power plan is another good choice for average-usage customers. The plan is available for one or two years, and your base charge of $9.95 is waived if you use over 1,000 kWh per month. The same ETF applies — $150 for 12-month plans and $295 for 24-month plans.

Our review of Reliant Energy
Overall, we rate Reliant Energy at 4.3 out of 5 stars. Here’s how we landed on our score:
- We examined Reliant Energy’s customer service, plan variety, and online accessibility to provide a comprehensive overview of the company and its reputation. We factored in customer reviews from trusted sites like Google Reviews and Trustpilot to determine our rating.
- Reliant Energy is a great fit for customers who prioritize strong customer service and simple online account management. Reliant offers online bill pay, usage tracking, and transparent pricing info on its website, along with a mobile app that even lets you manage EV charging times and monitor your solar impact.
- Although Reliant offers a few plan tiers for different usage levels, the company doesn’t offer as wide a selection as some of its competitors. Reliant also doesn’t offer any 100% renewable energy plans on the Choose Texas Power marketplace.
