Katy electric companies

Texas is one of several states where electricity is deregulated. This not only means that your Katy energy provider is your choice, giving you the power to choose one that best suits your needs, but that numerous energy companies are competing for your business.

Popular Katy providers include TXU Energy, TriEagle Energy, and Constellation, however, ChooseTexasPower.org works with a wide range of energy companies.

Utility service in Katy is managed by CenterPoint Energy. It doesn’t matter which energy provider you choose, CenterPoint Energy is the sole utility service responsible for delivering this electricity to your home. As a result, CenterPoint Energy is who you must contact when you experience a power outage or other power emergency.

Report a power outage or check the outage’s status here or by calling 1-800-332-7143.

Types of Katy electric plans

  • Fixed-rate: This means your Katy electricity rates will remain the same (or “fixed”) for the entirety of your plan. While the length of fixed rate plans varies, periods of 12, 24, and 36 months are most common. The fixed rate is offered by the energy provider, however, this doesn’t include government taxes and fees, which may change throughout your plan.
  • Variable rate: This means the opposite of a fixed-rate plan, so rates may fluctuate from month to month. This is because the rates reflect wholesale energy prices, so when they increase, so does the price you pay for your energy.
  • No deposit: Energy providers may look at your credit score to determine whether you have to provide a deposit to get service, as well as how much this deposit will be. Those with poor credit often have to pay a higher deposit. A no deposit plan, such as a pre-paid plan, allows you to forego paying a deposit by paying a monthly fee upfront for service instead.

Green energy plans in Katy

If you’re looking to reduce your carbon footprint, you’re in the right place. Texas is the largest producer of electricity from wind in the United States, which means most Katy energy providers can provide green energy plans.

Green energy plans allow you to support the renewable power industry and reduce the environmental impact of your energy usage.
