They’re responsible for selling electricity plans to business and residential customers, who have the power to choose their REP. Separately, your utility company is in charge of maintaining power lines and responding to outages in your area. Types of Eagle Pass electric plans

When shopping for electricity providers, you’ll see that providers generally offer multiple plan types — so what’s the difference between each of them? Here’s a brief overview of the plan types that you might see while you browse electricity rates in Texas.

  • Fixed-rate plans let you lock in a certain electricity rate for the length of your agreement (which is typically 12 months or more). These plans offer stability in terms of what to expect on your energy bill, but they require a contract with your REP.
  • Variable-rate plans, on the other hand, don’t come with a long-term contract. They’re usually month-to-month arrangements. Your rate is liable to fluctuate, so you won’t have a consistent electricity bill (and it could end up being much higher than you expected).
  • No-deposit plans are meant for people with poor credit or who can’t afford a deposit on their electric service.
