Compare TXU Energy and Gexa Energy reviews
Choose Texas Power reviews energy providers to help you make a more informed energy choice. Our reviews are based on three key categories: customer service, online accessibility, and plan options.
Customer service
When you have an issue with billing or want to change your plan, good customer service makes all the difference in your experience with an electricity company. We review Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) complaint scores, Google reviews, business history, and satisfaction guarantees to determine each provider’s customer service rating. TXU Energy scored a 4.9/5, and Gexa Energy received a 4.7/5.
While both of these electricity companies offer high-quality customer service, the biggest difference between them is their PUCT complaint scores. The PUCT rates providers from one to five based on the number of complaints received. The higher the score, the fewer complaints received.
TXU Energy scored a 5/5, showing a strong track record of complaint resolution. In contrast, Gexa Energy scored a 3/5, meaning more customers reported issues with its service, which lowered our overall rating.
Online accessibility
A simple online payment platform and transparent pricing ensure a smooth experience without surprise charges on your energy bill. When reviewing online accessibility, we consider bill pay options, usage alerts, and transparent pricing. Gexa and TXU both scored perfectly in this category since they offer convenient bill pay and usage tracking online or via a mobile app.
Gexa Energy and TXU Energy offer plans with bill credits or features that can complicate billing. If your energy usage doesn’t fall within a specific kWh range, you may pay more than expected. The Electricity Facts Label (EFL) outlines details, but providers ith simpler pricing rank higher in our review.
Plan options
TXU and Gexa Energy both received a 5/5 for plan options. However, they each demonstrate different strengths in this category. TXU provides a strong mixture of plan types, including fixed and variable rates, community solar, and bill credit options. Gexa Energy, on the other hand, specializes in fixed-rate, 100% renewable energy plans at a lower price point.
